Atupele is 17 years old and lives in the village of Kalusu, in Kalimanjira, Malawi. She is blind, but that has never stopped her from pursuing an education or dreaming about what comes next.
Atupele graduated with honors from a special primary school for students with disabilities. Her hard work and determination earned her selection to Mlanda Girls Secondary School, an opportunity that could open an entirely new chapter in her life.
But there is one obstacle Atupele cannot overcome on her own.
Her mother is raising several children by herself and simply does not have the money to send Atupele to secondary school. Hoping to find help, she brought her daughter to the Y-Malawi Vocational Training Centre in her very best dress to ask if someone might help make this opportunity possible.
Atupele has already shown what she can accomplish when given the opportunity.
Now she needs someone who sees the potential in her future, too.
